What inspires you to crochet?  What gives you that force in your soul to pick up a hook and yarn and create something?

For me, it's pretty much everything.  Where shall I start?

I can get inspired by a piece of music when I make my crowns.  So if I want to make something mellow, then I'll listen to some jazz or classical.  Or, if I want to crochet something funky and eccentric, then I'll put on some soul, funk, or even hip-hop.  I consider crochet to be a form of poetry, just like music.

Or I could even be inspired by the elements of nature.  It could be the sound of ocean waves at the beach, or birds singing in the morning.  Whatever is in my surroundings, I will draw from it and begin to create.  I could even sit in a garden and just admire the trees, shrubs, and flowers, and that would just inspire another piece to crochet.

Which brings me to my next form of inspiration:  Colors!  Though I have to admit, I work with earthtones most of the time, I just love mixing colors when I crochet.  The possibilities are endless when it comes to color.  You can blend one hue together with another and simply come up with some way out combination that just stirs one's spirits.

I also get inspired by fashion.  It could be almost any style or trend, and I would try to make something similar by adding my own flavor.  Yes indeed, this craft can be used to spawn the latest designs and trends of the fashion world.

Lastly, believe it or not, I get inspired by sports.  I could sit at home and watch the Lakers on TV, and just whip something up.  I guess I just like purple and gold, though.

Well, that's what inspires me.  And I reiterate the question, "What Inspires You?"  Go ahead and speak your mind, for your comments are truly appreciated.  Peace!  ;)
